When is there too much Government?
Now, I didn't know any of the founding fathers personally, but I have read a bit of their work, and I can honestly say that I do not believe that they would approve of the government forcing a child to take chemotherapy, against her parents wishes.
Apparently Connecticut disagrees with me, and I assume the founders of this great country. I am also pretty sure that I would fight this with every inch of my body and soul if that is even possible. Why won't the government allow the parents to seek another opinion? Is the young lady's life in that much of an imminent danger situation that she has to be basically medically kidnapped from her home to receive this medicine?
This is when there is too much government, and I would love to hear someone say otherwise, while still sounding sane. Who knows, maybe you will enlighten me a bit.
Good luck.

How to Spot a Racist
Toddlers who turn their noses up at spicy food from overseas could be branded racists by a Government-sponsored agency.
The National Children's Bureau, which receives £12 million a year, mainly from Government funded organisations, has issued guidance to play leaders and nursery teachers advising them to be alert for racist incidents among youngsters in their care.
This could include a child of as young as three who says "yuk" in response to being served unfamiliar foreign food.
The guidance by the NCB is designed to draw attention to potentially-racist attitudes in youngsters from a young age.
There is more to the article...
Really? And here I thought that kids didn't like spicy food because it was spicy. Thank goodness the British have spent over twelve million pounds ($23.6 million) to figure it out.
See, I don't just pick on Canada.

Being Catholic = Hate Crime in Canada
Apparently the Canadian Human Rights Commission is holding a tribunal against a Catholic priest for stating his opposition to gay marriage.
“If one, because of one’s sincerely held moral beliefs, whether it be Jew, Muslim, Christian, Catholic, opposes the idea of same-sex marriage in Canada, is that considered ‘hate’?”
The question was not rhetorical. Nor was it theoretical. Fr. Alphonse de Valk, a Basilian priest and pro-life activist known throughout Canada for his orthodoxy, is currently being investigated by the Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC) — a quasi-judicial investigative body with the power of the Canadian government behind it. The CHRC is using section 13 of Canada’s Human Rights Act to investigate the priest. This is a section under which no defendant has ever won once the allegation has gone to tribunal — the next stage of the process.Read more here.
Those Canadians are taking their Human Rights a tad bit seriously, and it looks like a witch hunt. Then again, maybe it's because I am Catholic that this bothers me.
Oh but wait, don't forget about Mark Steyn who is also at a tribunal of his own, and then Ezra Levant will be coming up soon.
On the Mark Steyn trial they are bringing an American blogger, that blogged on an American website, a Catholic one at that, as proof of the hate.
I just don't get it.

He Should Have Stayed In Sports...
Now I just think that he is another whacked-out-liberal-that-hates-America-and-all-it-stands-for-looking-to-incite... something, I don't know what?
It doesn't really matter what you think of the sitting president of this country to me, you can love him or hate him. Some things he does I like, some things I don't.
The First Amendment of the United States Constitution states:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
One of, if not, the most important rights we have as American citizens. However it does not give a person the right on a nationally broadcast station (granted his audience is only around 400,000 people) to treat the president with such disrespect. Especially, when he is speaking out of his nether region.
What an A$$.
Okay, I'm better now.

A Letter to a Nutcase (in my humble opinion)
What is up former VP of the USA? Or should I say Mr. Nobel Peace Prize? What exactly did you do to get that again? Oh yeah, you said it was going to get very very hot and all life all the planet will be OVER!
Aside from the obvious reasons why the Nobel Peace Prize committee got it wrong, like the fact that Global Warming has absolutely nothing to do with promoting peace and goodwill among man, but it is still kind of chilly here.
Oh yeah, it's supposed to snow tonight as well. Guess you fooled somebody.
Let me tell you what I think. I think recycling is a great idea and that everyone should do it. I think that conserving energy by turning off the lights in rooms that aren't being used is a great idea. I think that everyone should have their thermostats set to a more reasonable temperature in the winter and the summer, to conserve energy is a great idea as well.
I also think that carbon footprints are a joke. I think that preaching about saving the planet, while using more energy than the average American, heck than the average American block is a big bout of hypocrisy, and you should be ashamed. Being carbon neutral sounds all impressive, but you know what, you still used up that fuel, and you still polluted that air. What difference does it make what else you do, it isn't going to change that fact.
News flash for you, almighty former VP. If a volcano were to erupt today, say the equivalent of a Mt. St. Helen's, it would leave a bigger carbon footprint than the entire population of the United States. How you planning on stopping that?
How about ideas for alternate fuel sources, like wind energy, solar energy and others like that? Why not try to get your buddy in Massachusetts to go for those wind turbines? Oh yeah, that's right it will ruin his view. So what you really want to do is have your cake (unlimited use of fossil fuels and the like), and eat it too (by depriving the little guy the opportunity to use renewable resources by scaring the crap out of them).
Mr. Gore please retire peacefully and leave us hard-working people alone, and quit trying to scare the heck out of us - it's not nice.
Good Day

Why I Hate Do-It-Yourself
Will you please quit lying to me. Sure, doing things yourself will save you money and help you to build character (whatever!), but please quit putting words like easy, simple, and any body with half a brain could do this.
They do NOT pertain to me, an I am thinking of calling a lawyer.
Seriously.
Okay, maybe not, but come on.
Two faucets, one in the kitchen and one in the bathroom, have been in need of replacement over the past two months.
"Piece o' cake," the maniacal wannabe mechanic/plumber, handyman side of me says.
"Um, sure. But isn't there someone we could pay to do that?" the wussy, sensible, knows exactly what I am not capable of doing side of me says.
"Disney," is all that evil side has to say to that. Because he knows that if I spend $250 to have someone replace my faucets, that is $250 less of 'Dole Whips' at Disney.
Dang that evil side, hitting below the belt like that.
Okay, I think I mentioned the kitchen disaster previously, but basically it HAD to be replaced that day (back then), because when you turned on the water, instead of vertical flow, it was horizontal. You get the picture?
Now, the bathroom faucet suddenly, over the past three weeks or so, has decided to go green and limit the flow of water to one gallon per HOUR. Not good, not good at all. I mean Doctors will tell you that you need a nice flow of water when you are washing your hands - I know I saw it at a hospital or Doctor's office once (really)!
So in a fit of motivation not seen since the ice cream man came down the block, I went to my local Menard's (save big money...) and purchased my new faucet, figuring I could do it before I went to bed. Heck figuring I could do it and blog ~ mission accomplished.
It just took a LOT longer than it should have.
First off, the hot water hose came off in a snap. Not a literal snap, but rather quickly. I'm thinking that Jenni is going to finally have faith in my mechanical abilities. OOPS! Spoke too soon. The cold water hose would not loosen up, at all. I have a blister forming on my hand from all the exertion (I know, what a wuss), but seriously, it is only supposed to be finger tight, not crazy glue your head to a beam tight. Sheesh!
So after, lets just say a really long time that I am embarrassed to discuss in real terms, so I will say that I started it during Desperate Housewives and finished during ER.
Anyway, I get the new faucet put back in and the hoses all connected. That part was easy, really it was. I turn on the water and leak city - not nearly as much fun as Kalynne's Magical Leek Soup. What the heck? The washers were no longer part of the assembly, they were in the garbage.
Gonna need those.
Okay, I recover the washers and get the hoses reconnected. Turn on the water - no leaks (so far, so good), then I turn on the faucet and.... drip, drip, drip.
No Way!!! (Jenni saw this and started laughing ~ yes she did).
Now what? I disconnect everything and see that the washers are askew, so I straighten them out, reconnect and get the same thing. Now I know that there isn't any blockage in the hoses, because I actually turned the water on to make sure that wasn't the original problem (I'm not as dumb as I think I am). I look to the instructions for guidance.
Nothing.
For giggles I take the filter/screen thing off the end of the faucet, and turn on the water. Good flow. Hmm. Could there be a safety valve to prevent flooding or something built in to the filter/screen thing?
I reconnect that and...
I came here to blog before midnight.
Good night and God Bless!!

Things In The World That Deserve A Two-fer!
What the heck are you thinking? I mean, seriously, you have been swerving in and out of all the traffic this whole way to work. Want to know what I find to be very funny. I'm sitting right next to you at this light, just like I was two lights ago. Since your little brain isn't quite comprehending what I just said, let me spell it out for you. Swerve in and out all you like and you still haven't gotten ahead of me.
Ha, ha, ha!

Dear Miss I-know-it-says-only-fifteen-items-or-less grocery shopper,
Let me help you here. Fifteen items is one more than fourteen, and less than sixteen, or in your case twenty-six!
Yes, I did count them. Yes, I was impatiently sighing and visibly counting your TWENTY-SIX items. Was I surprised that you couldn't find your check book? Or that your credit card said "no way Jose!" Then you didn't even make an attempt to help bag the TWENTY-FREAKING-SIX items that you had, no that would be beneath you, I guess.
So, please don't mind me if you hear my exclamation "she had twenty-six items... how rude." Because to be honest, I think you might deserve it.
Happy Shopping!!

No, We're Not Too Litigious Here
Seriously, and The Smoking Gun has a point about suing the county as well. After all, the pictures of their private residence is there for the whole world to see, if they wanted to, on the county's web site. As well as the price they paid, etc...
I wonder how many people put the address into their Google maps, to see for themselves, especially since their address is on the court paper work.
Dumb, dumb, dumb.
Why can't people just go out and make money the old fashioned way, and get a job, instead of going for the fast and easy buck. Must be too taxing, I guess.
I sincerely hope the judge that gets this case throws it out, and then reprimands the lawyer for filing such a stupid, STUPID, lawsuit.
So do you want to hear how I really feel? :)

Anyway, that is my three cents - which by the way will no longer be used to purchase your product, if you care.

I Don't Feel Like A Big Mac Anymore.
They really won't be losing any money from me (I personally can't stand their food), and I will have to find an alternative for the few occasions when I get food for the family from there.
McDonald's CEO: Company will put full resources behind gay agenda McDonald's has signed on to a nationwide effort to promote "gay" and "lesbian" business ventures.
Dear Roger,
According to McDonald's CEO Jim Skinner, McDonald's will aggressively promote the homosexual agenda.
In remarks on McDonald's Web site concerning the company becoming a member of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), Skinner wrote: "Being a socially responsible organization is a fundamental part of who we are. We have an obligation to use our size and resources to make a difference in the world … and we do."
The company gave an undisclosed amount of money to the NGLCC in return for being recognized as a major promoter of the homosexual agenda. In return, NGLCC placed Richard Ellis, vice president of communications of McDonald's USA, on the NGLCC Board of Directors.
Ellis was quoted as saying: "I'm thrilled to join the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce team and ready to get to work. I share the NGLCC's passion for business growth and development within the LGBT community, and I look forward to playing a role in moving these important initiatives forward."
McDonald's refused to comment to World Net Daily on the placement of its executive on the board of the "gay" advocacy organization but did send an e-mail confirming the corporation's support for the agenda of the homosexual business lobby.
"McDonald's is indeed a Corporate Partner and Organizational Ally of NGLCC. Our vice president of U.S. communications, Richard Ellis, was recently elected to its board of directors," said Heidi M. Barker, senior director of media relations for McDonald's.
NGLCC describes itself as promoting the LGBT community first and always, including same sex marriage.
NGLCC gives credit to sponsors such as McDonald's for its financial and other support that helps in its work. "Through the commitment of our corporate partners, the NGLCC has been able to advance the ideas and causes of the LGBT business community," the Chamber said.
Take Action! Very important!
~Call your local McDonald's and ask why McDonald's is using its size and resources to promote the homosexual agenda.
~Send an e-mail to McDonald's
~Forward this e-mail to family and friends.
Thank you for caring enough to get involved. If you feel our efforts are worthy of support, would you consider making a small tax-deductible contribution?
Sincerely,
Donald E. Wildmon,Founder and Chairman American Family Association
Good Night and God Bless!

Panic in Bugland!!
Maybe it's because six of the seven most important people in his life are in Iowa? Could be, but a hotel room with this cough would be tough on everyone, and the Bug would be sleeping out in the car. I do miss them though, at least Andy and the movie "Across The Universe" will keep him company.
Ooh, one of my favorite scenes is on right now... Jim Sturgess singing 'I've Just Seen A Face' in a bowling alley - good times! Oh, and I am being serious. The only part(s) of this movie I don't like are the circus bit, and weird mermaid bit that follows Bono's version of 'I Am the Walrus.' Again. I am totally serious.
Back to my panic. You see, I have several computers in my household, some more useful than others. However, I have one, that used to be my main home computer, until... well I have six kids, five of which are pretty good at using these blasted things, and, well you get the picture. So, Jenni and I bought ourselves our own computer, deemed to be "kid-free." Apparently the kids found some sort of loophole in the ruling, or went to the 9Th Circuit Court of Appeals (the bane of normal thinking Americans, in my most humble opinion), and have slowly taken over this computer. I don't even want to talk about "my" laptop.
ANYWAY - my what tangents I can start to weave, (ugh!) sorry. Me and my muse.
Like I was saying, the computer downstairs was the main computer, then one day it decided that it didn't want to be a part of the family and *poof!* bye-bye music, photos, tax returns, etc. We took it to a friend of ours, who likes tinkering with these beasts and... well it runs. Unfortunately, for us, it seems to be tied directly to our connectivity issues here.
See where the panic started, yet?
When the computer downstairs is off, the Internet runs smooth and wonderful. I would say that it is Comcastic - but we don't use them for that. :) That's a personal commentary for some other time.
Cubbie likes to make movies, either homemade ones or edited versions of others. For instance, a friend of his doesn't really care for the whole circus/mermaid thing either. So she asked him to edit it out. All well and good, except that he needs to use the ... you guessed it ... downstairs computer. So, here it is coming on 10:30PM locally, and I have yet to make a blog entry. Bad news for a Blog365 guy like myself. I need a list as well, so I called Jenni to do it for me... no Internet at the hotel (what kind of torture palace did I send her and the kids to?)
I was seriously contemplating going to work to blog - Folks, what is wrong with THAT picture.
Oh well, Cubbie being the good sport that he is, and the fact that I was possibly going to tear up here, said that he could kill the computer downstairs and allow me to blog.
Aren't my kids the BEST!!

Pants, Penquins and Pods (Why Are They Related?)
WHY CAN"T KIDS PULL THEIR PANTS UP?
1. They are doing an experiment in living like a penguin - Have you seen some of this kids, okay I should say boys/young men, with their pants hanging off of their hips? Well, it is comical to watch them walk. Don't believe me. Watch them in action some time.
2. My mom bought them six sizes too small. - "Honest I told my mom that I needed size 28 not 18." Whatever kid.
3. I like looking like I loaded my pants with, well, ... you know. - Doesn't it look like they have their pants full of poop? I mean really now, just pull them up!
4. Last one, I promise, and honest to God this is a real reason... I want people to see the cool underwear I have. - I kid you not, this is the reason a son of one of my friends gave her. I suggested that she quit buying him such "fun" underwear. You know, the boxers with smiley faces, or basketballs, or Jolly Rogers...
Kids, boys, young men... NO ONE wants to see your underwear, I promise you this. So just pull up the pants and wear them the way that they are meant to be worn. This goes for shorts as well. Which brings me to my whole reason for this list/rant. Some kid was wearing shorts that looked like they could be Capri pants, with an interesting pattern. As I got closer I realized that they were in fact, some basketball shorts - being worn off the hip, with black boxers (well I assume that they were boxers, since I didn't actually stop to look at the whole package - so to speak.)
Next up....
TOP TEN SONGS ON THE FAMILY ITUNES LIBRARY (FOR FEBRUARY)
10. Living On A Prayer - Bon Jovi (51)
9. I Don't Want To Be In Love - Good Charlotte (52)
8. Our Song - Taylor Swift (55)
7. Baba O'Riley - The Who (58)
6. Girlfriend - Avril Lavigne (59)
5. Brain Stew - Green Day (62)
4. Surrender - Cheap Trick (64)
3. Boston (Radio Version) - Augustana (65)
2. Hotel California - The Eagles (84)
and the number one for the month of February is...
1. Snow (Hey Oh) - Red Hot Chili Peppers (118)
The number in the parenthesis represents the play count for, in this case, the month of February. These are usually the songs that are on three of our play lists, as you may have guessed. If FTB used hers more often, I would imagine that Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana would have been more prominently featured. :)
That's it for today/tonight, I'll be back tomorrow.

Talk About Your Irony...
I feel for his wife and daughters who must be devastated. I mean it would be bad enough to find out, in private. Now imagine having the glare of the media shining through your window. It would probably be right for him to resign and just quietly disappear for a while.
Why is it that smart people do dumb things? Amazing.
Now, for something else amazing, I heard on the radio some lady actually defending his right to do this. Okay. Sure he does have the right to do it, after all there is nothing that says you cannot commit a crime in this country. Now, if you get caught, that's another story.
Anyway, this lady was trying to correlate Spitzer paying for sex, versus (you know of whom I shall now mention) Clinton having sex with an intern. She said that as long as Spitzer was doing his job, what difference does it make what he does in the privacy of his own home. (Or a suite at a Washington D.C. hotel, in this case). I agree. You can do whatever you want, and should be allowed to do whatever you want in the privacy of your own home. AS LONG AS IT ISN'T ILLEGAL!!
Last I checked, prostitution is only legal in the state of Nevada. However not in Las Vegas, more irony there. Also believe it or not Adultery is also against the law. Oh and let's not forget that Spitzer put people behind bars FOR doing exactly what he just got caught doing.
And people wonder why I hate politicians.
Now, why do I care? Because this is a black-eye on the country, believe it or not. Now there are some places that will poo-poo it, in fact some people in this country will do the same thing I imagine. This is why the terrorists hate us so much.
Our lack of morality. If you wonder why there are so many teens having sex before marriage, just watch the television for a night, premarital sex is glamorized for all to see. Arrggghhhh! I spinning in tangents now, sorry.
I hope for the good of the state of New York, Eliot Spitzer steps down, TODAY.
Good night from Illinois, where we have our own corrupt Governor, but hey so is everyone else under him, so...
A new list later, I promise.
Excited, aren't you?
Bye-bye

Who Wants to be a Genius, Anyway?
Well, that was fun. Did you enjoy it as much as I did? :)
Just Kidding, sheesh!
Okay, see that little "blog grade level thingy?" Down there on the left side... see it? Okay. Well I thought, hey I've been writing some deep intellectual thoughts of late - not really. Anyway, I thought I would check and see if I graduated High School and moved up in the world. Guess what?
I regressed.
What the hell? Yep, I am now in Junior High School. That makes no sense at all. I know that we, as writers, are supposed to write at an eighth grade level, but to have it thrown in my face like that! Ouch!! (Note: I didn't update it, because my pride is in the way.... no really, pride. You'll see another reason why in a minute or so, just read on).
Okay. After dealing with that blow to my maturity level, or intellectual level. Really it's more of a lack of intellectual maturity, if I want to be honest, and I do. I think.
Being curious, I decided to put the family blog's URL in -- guess what I found out? My family is a bunch of GENIUSES. Yes, it rated as GENIUS. Amazing, but true. I am so proud, yet also well, you know...
No, I didn't post the results there either. No need for their heads to get any bigger than mine, after all. :)

An Examination of a Sub-Conscious Mind --- Sort of.
Hi, How are you?
Me, I'm good.
So what's new?
Nothing much, how about you?
Makes you want to leave doesn't it? So, I will stop. Assuming that you have made it this far, of course.
Ever have one of those days when you do a lot, yet get absolutely nothing accomplished? That was my day in a nutshell. I had great plans for what I was going to get doe today, and only got one of the fourteen things planned done.
Why is that, you ask?
Well, we have a new employee that isn't in the system yet, so I had to enter all of his work for him, then my computer did some weird stuff that completely messed me up. Then, after getting that fixed, I realized I was running late for getting home. So...
Here I am. With a whole lot of stuff in my head, and nowhere to go.
Tomorrow is the Blackhawks game against the Avalanche of Colorado. Woo Hoo! Go Lanche! I think that is how the yell goes. Anyway, if I remember to bring the camera I'll snap a few pix of me and the boys enjoying the hockey game, from section 312. We get the added excitement of coming home in an ice storm, maybe. It all depends on when the front comes through the greater Chicago land area. Can hardly wait.
Did I mention that we now sing on the Wii, as well as play guitar? You got it dude. We have High School Musical Sing It now for the Wii. The boys were rolling their eyes when I got it. Guess who played it until midnight? Yep. Those same boys, which made the girls a little upset because we wouldn't let them stay up.
Such mean parents we are.
LHS is out tonight. Yes, his probation is about through, so we are giving him little bits of rope, only to tug back at the slightest hint of stupidity. Of course, we have noticed Benjy starting to become quite the, well, teenager for lack of a better term. At least LHS is mostly through it, and there isn't a whole lot to get in trouble with (knock on wood).
Our friend's son that goes to NIU is okay. He knew one of the guys that got killed. Apparently he jumped in front of his girlfriend, died instantly from the gun shot, and pretty much saved her life. She is still in the hospital, in critical condition I think (last I heard), but will survive at least.
Seems like this guy just quit taking his medication - not good. I know this from personal experience, trust me. If you are prescribed something, follow the instructions and your Doctor's orders. They may know more about what is going on in your head/body than you do.
I got the latest Stephen King novel Duma Key. I'll let you know what I think of it, when I get a chance to read it.
I predict that Jeff Gordon will win the Daytona 500 tomorrow. And that all four Hendrick cars will finish in the top ten. Unless they get caught up in the "Big One" of course, then anything can happen.
"You take my mind and you cheat it,
You take my body and heat it,
Then you take my heart and you beat it." --- Beat of Love by the Voice of the Beehive
I LOVE this song! It came out in 1988 from the Let it Bee album, which is also pretty awesome, if I say so myself and I do.
"Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy." ~George Carlin
