Angles, Stain, Basketball and Rain

It's Saturday, so it must mean that your lovable little Roger is going to talk about all the projects he worked on today, right?

Right!

Yay, it's always fun to talk about projects Roger. What did you do today?

Well kids, today Roger worked on trying not to bang his head over the fact that he has no clue how to use a miter saw - in fact, he's not even sure if that is the correct terminology. (You know I prefer to work on reading and writing, right?) Anyway, I didn't bang my head on anything, nor did I cut off any fingers - can't imagine what my hunt-n-peck typing would be like without one of my chubby little stubs. Needless to say, cutting molding into proper angles so that they fit and look nice, is not my forte.

Maybe I should work on patience this Lenten season.

Oh, I almost forgot. I had to rebuild one of the walls for Jessie's room, apparently I took a shortcut that I shouldn't have, which made the wall a little unstable when my neighbor leaned against it. At least we hadn't painted it yet. So the wall is now much sturdier, although not nearly as sturdy as it would be if I used regular studs, instead of the ones that came with the kit.

I think the idea came to me as I was typing that last sentence as well. Forget about it. I am not tearing down that wall again just to replace the studs from the kit with regular studs. No. I. Am. Not. By the way, that was not a stereotypical sitcom no either. Just so you know.

So, with the wall secured I could finally work on finishing up the doorway and went out and bought my 1x6, and some stain. Oh, and some mouse traps, pesky little creatures have decided to move in, just because my house is warmer than outside, such logic. Anyway, my cat loves to play with them, Jenni does not. Back to the stain, I must say that I found a pretty good match for the rest of the woodwork in the room, and I also found some pre-cut frames for her doorway. Cool, too bad that they can't do that for the rest of the room.

If you go here, I believe that you can join my group for some college basketball March Madness fun. So come on down, it won't cost you a penny, and it can be a lot of fun. Especially if your teams win. So what are you waiting for. Go. Now. Please.

The best part about rain? You don't have to shovel it. :)

God Bless and good night!

News To Sleep On (probably not)

Oh my, this world is a strange place. I mean we have a guy that beheaded someone on a bus, claiming self-defense/schizophrenia caused him to do it, and the judge agreed...

Vince Li has been found not criminally responsible for the unprovoked killing and beheading of fellow passenger Timothy McLean on a Greyhound bus last summer.

Manitoba Court of Queen's Bench Judge John Scurfield said Thursday that Li, 40, could not be found guilty of murder and is not criminally responsible for the crime because he was mentally ill at the time of the killing.

"These grotesque acts are appalling... but are suggestive of a mental disorder," the judge said.
"He did not appreciate the act he committed was wrong."

Li had pleaded not guilty to a charge of second-degree murder. Psychiatric evidence at his trial suggested he is a schizophrenic who suffered a major psychotic episode last July 30 when he fatally stabbed McLean, 22, ate some of the body parts, and cut off McLean's head.

WOW! What will Canada do next?

President Obama's 'tracking poll' has taken another hit...

Investors retreated from Wall Street again, driven by worries about the nation's big banks and General Motors Corp.

Stocks slid to their lowest levels in more than 12 years Thursday, more than wiping out the previous session's rally. Investors wrestled with relentless uncertainty about the financial system and fresh concerns about GM. Short selling -- bets that stocks will fall -- ahead of the government's Friday employment report exacerbated the losses, slashing 281 points from the Dow Jones industrial and sending all the major indexes down more than 4 percent.

Stocks fell in every industry, with beleaguered banks posting some of the steepest drops. Citigroup Inc., still shaky despite receiving billions in government aid, at times sank below $1 and finished down 9.7 percent at $1.02. GM, meanwhile, ended with a loss of 15 percent at $1.86 as it warned of possible bankruptcy.

"Citigroup going below a buck today was a little scary," said Mark LeStrange, director of sales at Source Trading.

"To say that we're cheap here and it's a good value, it sounds right, but in all reality we could go 50 percent lower," he said. "Nobody has any idea how low we can go."

The Standard & Poor's 500 index is now down 56.4 percent from its peak in October 2007, making it the second worst slide for the index since its plunge of 86.2 percent from 1929-32.

Oy! Good thing I have at least twenty more years to retire. On the bright side, there be some bargains out there.

Now For Something Completely Different

Benjy is mad at their new baseball game for the Wii. Apparently his runner didn't run when he told him to run, and the runner then proceeded to get caught in a pickle and now he's mad because his outfielders can't catch easy fly balls.

A question for those that have made it this far. What is the best way for me to respond to your comments? In the comment box, or via email? I never know, plus I forget that when I am responding via email, to put your actual email address in. I think I'm going to lean more towards what Jeff does, over at his blog View from the Cloud, and start responding via the comment box. If that's okay. It seems to work well for him.

Finally, please keep Bill K, Mike D, and Bob P in your prayers - they all had their positions eliminated today.

God Bless and good night!

Let's Talk LOST

Did you see tonight's episode?

All I can do is say that I think I am correct.

Correct about what Roger? Glad you asked.

I am of the opinion that the LOST gang is actually turning into a grand paradox, and the past Losties will be hunting the future Losties, and at the end of it all. John Locke will wake up and tell his wife about this wild dream that he just had. Oh, hi wife will be Eloise Hawking and his son Sawyer will come in with the grandkids Kate and Jack.

Or something like that. :)

Back to the real world... The boss told me yesterday after 6PM, to make sure that certain individuals were going to be in the office on Thursday. Gee, and if they ask me why, am I supposed to tell them that their services are no longer required as well?

I didn't do it, but I know that they will all be there. Tomorrow will not be a good day I'm afraid.

With that thought, I'm going to try to make you smile.

Some guy bought a new fridge for his house. To get rid of his old fridge, he put it in his front yard and hung a sign on it saying: 'Free to good home. You want it, you take it.' For three days the fridge sat there without even one person looking twice at it. He eventually decided that people were too un-trusting of this deal.

It looked too good to be true, so he changed the sign to read: 'Fridge for sale $50.'

The next day someone stole it!

Want another one? Okay.

* One day I was walking down the beach with some friends when someone shouted....'Look at that dead bird!' Someone looked up at the sky and said...'where?'

Okay, that will do for now. Have a great day/evening!

God Bless!!

Forty-Three Men, One Office

Thought that this was pretty cool, although I wish they would have used both of Grover Cleveland's official portraits.

And that concludes today's history lesson, hope you enjoyed it. was going to post a ten-plus minute lesson on forms of government, but thought I would save that for a different time.

Let's Go Green!

Here is a great way of going green that I am sure you will all join me in participating...

"Alright," you say, "You've convinced me about cloth diapers, and I understand using cloth gift bags and napkins. But toilet paper??" For some people, making the switch to cloth toilet wipes is a huge leap, that's true. But it doesn't need to be!

Using cloth toilet wipes actually has many advantages. For one, it's a lot more comfortable and soft on your most delicate body parts. It's also more economical, uses less paper, and saves you those late-night trips to the store. And cloth wipes can be used wet without any of the sopping disintegration that regular toilet paper is prone to. For a discussion of the practical aspects of using cloth toilet wipes, please check out our page detailing How to Use Cloth Wipes.

Lately, with all the media attention, there've been a lot of naysayers talking about the stench. I can honestly say, our wipes don't stink. They don't go into a sealed container. They go into a little (lidded) garbage can in the bathroom. Many people use a wet bag, as pictured below. There is no odor.

You go first! :)

Sunday Sightings

Going to church with a two-year old is always fun. Too bad I'll miss it. (He turns three on Friday).

I always love Mass during Lent.

Drywall is heavy, thankfully there are nice and helpful employees at Menard's.

Welcome to March, roaring in like a lion. Yay! So excited about the freaking cold weather, especially while loading some heavy drywall into my van, and then unloading the same drywall a short while later. Cold weather, you can go away now. Please.

Seeing my daughters smile because of her new room, makes me feel warm in my heart. Now, if she could just be a tad bit more patient, and let me finish. :)

Joint compound takes a while to dry.

I have a really strong pitching staff for my fantasy baseball team. We had a live draft, and I think it went well. Live drafts RULE! Well, at least they are more fun than just letting the computer pick away for you.

I can't believe that Jeff Gordon came in sixth today, especially after blowing that left front tire and shredding his fender. Could be his year, at least until I just jinxed him. Sorry Jeff.

I can't believe I put up a whole bedroom, with a door no less, in one weekend. I better cool it before Jenni gets any more ideas. :)

Thanks for stopping by, don't forget I'm looking for questions to answer.

Okay, bye.
